28.05.2014, Hofstallungen Museumsquartier, Vienna

8 contestants competing for the title of the Austrian Dancehall Contest 2014, the competition this year was heated. 8 ladies dancing and in the end only one winner. The choreography, flexibly, energy, preparation, audience, lights, music and deep concentration get to through the challenge of the evening. When only the panel of judges could decide on the crowning of this years winner. The energy ....bombastic...!

Dancehall has transformed over a period of years in Vienna, Austria, as mentioned that about a decade ago the movement itself was of non existence. This transformation has taken place through a number of people who have been passionate not only about this particular genre of Reggae music, but the Dancehall culture as a whole, following in Dance and taking onto the next level.

A few years ago the first Austrian Dancehall Contest took place in Austria and ever since, one could say that there is no looking back. Valerie Dancehall Queen at one stage herself was at the mercy of a panel of judges becoming one of the first Austrian Dancehall Queen's in Vienna.

Well 2014, brought with it tough competition for the contestants taking part in this year's competition, as the crown was not just going to be just handed over that easily. The 8 competitors for 2014, Honey J'e, Janet Phoenix, Mimi Nuh Badda, La Melli Latina, Barbora, Michelle Bambaii, Cat Monroe and Tina Rauter had a tough night of battling it out for the title on stage. This was no place for jealous and faint hearted girlfriends, as the bootylicious, sexy, wining queens were ready to take over the stage and show the audience what they were made of. Some moves should definitely not be tried at home, they require a lot practice...lol

5 rounds and one crown, I must admit the the judges had a something cut out for them choosing the winner as each round was an elimination round. In the last round, head on head Mimi Nuh Badda and Janet Phoenix had some tough competition and either one of them was going to walk away crowned Austrian Dancehall Queen 2014.

Despite that fact that some of the competitors had already particitpate in the previous years. Competition probably had stepped it game up as the new competitor took the crown. As disappointing it may seem to many the judges seemed to have had tied scores in the end leaving the audience to decide on the newly Crowned Austrian Dancehall Queen 2014. Janet Phoenix took the title, Mimi Nuh Badda in second place and third Honey J'e, well despite broke hearts and tears some of us stood 110% behind our favorite dancers, but the title fully was deserved by the crowned Dancehall Queen Janet Phoenix as the final decision came from the audience.

The Austrian Dancehall Queen will represent Austria at the Dancehall world championships in Jamaica this year, go Janet Phoenix!

Congratulations to the Austrian Dancehall Queen 2014 and Valerie for putting together such a wonderful event. We are looking forward to the Austrian Dancehall Queen Contest 2015
